Celebrating Sisters and their Spirit of Service
As we celebrate World Mission Sunday this October 20, a practice that dates back to 1926, we ask you to remember the Sisters and their spirit of service. The Mater Ecclesiae College needs our financial help today to carry on their work and keep the doors of the college open. Mission sisters from 40 mission countries gather at Mater Ecclesiae College to gain higher education degrees in faith, formation, service and leadership as well as training in human development, finance, economics and business. The college molds these young women from mission countries into future leaders to serve in villages throughout the developing world.
The education received at Mater Ecclesiae College enhances the quality of service the sisters will provide when they go home to the mission communities. It is vital for sisters to be educated because they become better equipped to go home and face the spiritual and cultural challenges of life in mission countries, and to make a real difference in the world.
Fr. Andrew Small, OMI, National Director of the Pontifical Missions Society once said, “Some people give by going. Others go by giving.” We ask you to please give yourself to mission this October by attending our World Mission Celebration to benefit the Mater Ecclesiae College on October 8, 2013 at the Archbishop Quigley Center. Special guests include His Eminence, Francis Cardinal George, CBS News Anchor Kate Sullivan and Comboni Missionary Sister Teibe Hadghu. The evening will include insights from our special guests on Mater Ecclesiae College and the work of Missionary Sisters as well as pictures with the Cardinal, a silent auction, cocktails and small plates from around the world.
