Description:

Communications Director Diocese of Joliet The Communications Director oversees the communication needs for the diocese. This includes formulating and coordinating an overall communications strategy that enables the diocese to fulfill its teaching mission internally and externally. Will be responsible for media outlets including web communications and social media outlets as well as for facilitating communication with parishes. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in communications or public relations, along with a minimum of four (4) years previous experience in public relations and communication in a comparable position. Must have a thorough knowledge of communication principles and practices with exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both verbally (including oral presentations) and in writing. Must have skill in audio/video production, along with knowledge of church organizational and operations procedures. Position requires creativity, decision making, interpersonal skills, use of discretion, teamwork, negotiation, service orientation, and public relations to foster the Church’s mission and Parish/School relations. Requirements:

Must have a thorough knowledge of communication principles and practices with exceptional ability to communicate effectively, both verbally (including oral presentations) and in writing. Must have skill in audio/video production, along with knowledge of church organizational and operations procedures. Position requires creativity, decision making, interpersonal skills, use of discretion, teamwork, negotiation, service orientation, and public relations to foster the Church’s mission and Parish/School relations. Must make presentations, provide training, mentoring, and supervising. Must also maintain effective working relationships with parishes and schools, the media; and must be able to handle multiple projects/priorities. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
