Description:

The Director of Catechesis at St Joseph Catholic Church leads all aspects of the parish catechetical and formation programs for adults, families, youth and children in collaboration with clergy, pastoral and administrative staff and volunteer parishioners. As the staff lead of the Wisdom of our Faith Commission, the Director of Catechesis assists formation ministries in implementing our parish formation plan. The Director leads and supervises the Catechesis Team; manages the catechesis and youth ministry portions of the parish budget; attends meetings relative to the role as necessary, such as parish staff, commission, deanery, vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings; provides leadership and oversight to all aspects of catechetical and sacramental programs of the parish including choice of textbooks, curricula and design, implementation and evaluation of catechetical programs; recruitment, retention and formation of catechists for the 1200 children and adults in our traditional, family and small group catechetical programs; leads childhood sacramental preparation programs; is responsible for implementing catechetical programs for liturgical and spiritual formation including Masses, prayer services and other celebrations. Requirements:

MA in Theology, Faith Formation, Religious Education or related field as well as demonstrated competence in theology, catechesis, administration, educational methods and supervision; minimum of 5 years of successful parish religious education experience in a Roman Catholic parish; excellent written and verbal communication skills; program development, staff coaching and leadership, child development and catechist development; ability to collaborate, lead diverse teams and multi-task in a high volume, complex environment; strong commitment to social justice in the workplace and sense of stewardship for the human, physical and financial assets of the organization; willingness to work evenings and weekends, commitment to Gospel values and demonstrates commitment to lifelong faith formation of intentional disciples.
