Description:
The coordinator for the St. Kateri Center coordinates the ministry of the St. Kateri Center as a ministry of St. Benedict parish. Specifically, the coordinator leads American Indian Catholics in education and formation through sacramental prep and training as catechists and worship leaders. The Coordinator works intentionally in guiding participation of the St. Kateri center with interfaith services and civic awareness. Further, the coordinator helps lead studies in American Indian culture and heritage studies built on a foundation of ancestral wisdom implementing the core values. The Coordinator oversees the daily operation of the Center and works collaboratively with the Chicago Native American community, the Archdiocese of Chicago, University partners, CPS Title VII, and the United Methodist ministry of presence. Requirements:
Theological, pastoral and religious studies of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in ministerial experience. Has the capability of transmitting the Catholic faith and sharing it with others by integrating respect for the American Indian traditions. Has experience within the Roman Catholic Church and ministry with the American Indian community. Has knowledge and experience of American Indian cultures, traditions and life journey. Administrative, grant writing, fundraising and liturgical skills necessary.
