Description:

St. Pius V parish in the Pilsen neighborhood is home to dynamic faith formation. Currently we seek an active practicing catholic to serve as our Assistant Director of Religious Education. Three main values are important for religious education at St. Pius: Faith formation; Integration in parish and church life; Social analysis and outreach in the community (using see, judge and act model in the program). Under the guidance of the DRE, the assistant will prepare registration and program files; provide materials for different activities of program; communicate regularly with staff, catechists and parents (via phone and letters); assist in religious education preparation and outreach; provide presentations to religious education catechists; helps organize major events and celebrations, including liturgies related to Religious Education; helps prepare catechists to give the weekly lesson; supervise and assist catechists’ helpers for helping their respected catechists; encourage catechists and helpers to achieve archdiocesan certification; ensure delivery of all sacrament certificates to all participants; help collect and maintain records and fees collected; provide guidance to catechists in the organization of retreats and liturgical celebrations; manage PDS and program files of all religious education programs; oversee all aspects related to venue (retreat centers, use of St. Pius V facilities and Casa Juan Diego); coordinate the Confirmation program of for up to 100 students, including but not limited to, the following functions: Register Confirmation participants, collect fees and input data into PDS system; Complete administrative tasks related to the Confirmation program; Monitor use of Casa Juan Diego building during Confirmation activities; Coordinate 32 to 35 weeks of Confirmation preparation sessions; Supervise Confirmation classes each week;Provide guidance to students so that they can attain their community service goals; Communicate with parents of Confirmation youth, as appropriate; Organize and coordinate with St. Pius V School’s Confirmation program (Liturgy, retreats, celebration of the sacrament, etc.); Oversee the Confirmation page on St. Pius V’s website and confirmation Facebook page; Coordinate two post-Confirmation activities per year.

Requirements:

Bilingual and bicultural. College degree; theological background; Demonstrated faith commitment; Experience working with youth; Experience planning age-appropriate activities. Attend training and ongoing formation. CPR/First Aid Certified. Competent in Microsoft Office Suite. Background check completed.
