Description:
St. George Youth Minister reports to Pastor to provide vision for parish ministry to our youth, in coordination with St. George School Principal, Religious Education Coordinator and volunteers. Through the efforts of the Youth Minister, St. George Youth Ministry offers comprehensive programming: Life Teen Program and USCCB guidelines for parish youth ministry (Renewing the Vision) to empower young people to live as disciples in our world today by drawing them into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of our Catholic community and beyond, and to foster total personal and spiritual growth of young people at St. George Parish. The successful candidate will express commitment to the teachings of our Catholic Church and as advocate for youth, a deep love for young people. St. George Youth Minister coordinates with Archdiocesan Youth Ministry leaders and the SSYMA, as well as regional and national youth ministry leaders, to enhance opportunities for St. George Youth Ministry, to advocate for our parish youth, and to connect our parish youth to the wider Catholic Church. Responsibilities include attendance at staff meetings, communication to staff and parish committees on youth ministry issues; budgeting, marketing and fundraising; recruiting, training, and forming youth ministry volunteers and youth leaders; facilitating prayer opportunities, liturgical involvement, meeting and presentations for volunteers, participants, families, staff, and parish leaders; directing and supervising YM sports, catechetical programming, social and recreational opportunities, retreats, mission trips, and service projects; liaison between St. George Parish and the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry to participate fully in programs, services and resources; work joyfully to involve young people in the life of St. George Parish and the Catholic Church. Requirements:
College degree required. Experience in Youth Ministry and/or background in pastoral ministry strongly encouraged.
