Description:

Under the direction of the pastor working alongside the principal, effectively and positively communicate the strategic vision and mission of the parish and school. Support and promote parish by implementing and overseeing development activities necessary to grow the organization and expand the base of financial support. Fundraising responsibilities: Develop and maintain a five year development plan in keeping with the mission of the parish/school. Measure and report growth in fundraising and benchmarks of financial achievement for parish/school to various committees and the parish community at large; Identify, cultivate and establish a Development/Endowment Volunteer board, capable of making personal connections to assist in the solicitation process on behalf of the parish – develop and manage stewardship process of all donors, advice on future fundraising plans; Assume overall operational management responsibility for all parish/school fundraising; to develop a consistent, organized approach with successful outcomes. This includes St James Jubilation and all school fundraisers. Develop a network of school alumni class representatives in order to reach out to other alums for class reunions, alumni appeals and various targeted alumni campaigns. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship and open communication with Parish/school staff, volunteers, school parents, parishioners and surrounding community. Working knowledge of recording and inputting all gifts into parish database. Grant and Giving responsibilities: Identify potential donors – individuals, corporate and foundations – cultivate relationships, solicit and maintain ongoing communication with donors, event coordinators via email correspondence and one on one meetings; Implement individual giving campaigns including annual appeals, planned giving and capital campaigns in conjunction with pastor’s strategic plan and long term development goals. Research Grant opportunities, cultivate relationships with various nonprofit funders and grant giving entities. Develop proposals to foundations, maintain accurate records and submit reports as required by funders.

Requirements:

4-7 years progressive experience in fundraising including a record of success in expanding a donor base through cultivation and stewardship, grant writing and event planning/implementation and advisory board management. Prefer an active Catholic who embraces and respects catholic values and teachings. Demonstrated understanding of parish life and catholic elementary schools a plus. Maintain a strict level of confidentiality on all matters relating to job position. Superior persuasive writing, communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire others and articulate the mission and goals of the parish/school. Self-motivator demonstrates initiative and high quality work ethic, with a desire to build and strengthen relations among members of St James parish. Comfort in speaking with parishioners, donors, and businesses. Excellent skilled listener, who considers issues, options and alternatives, as well as compassionate to parishioners wants for donations or gifts in kind. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity/comfort with fundraising and database management systems such as Razor’s edge software or Parish Data Systems (PDS). Experience with a fundraising budgets and P/L. Team player with supervisory experience of FTE’s and Volunteers. Establish and maintain database of donors and school alumni related to development activities and targeted communications.
