Description:
The Interim Coordinator of Religious Education will fill in for Director of Religious Education while she is on maternity leave. The Interim Coordinator will maintain and implement the catechetical plan for the 2015-2016 year while providing pastoral guidance and administrative support to the parish catechetical programs. The coordinator will act as a resource to the parish catechetical programs; help implement and be present for the RCIA (especially during Holy Week); supervise volunteer catechists to ensure they are following their syllabus, taking attendance, and providing prayer opportunities for students; and collaborate with the second grade catechist and teachers to implement First Communion.
Requirements:
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. BA in Theology preferred; or BA with 24 credit hours in theology or religious education. Experience as a catechist for children or adults. Knowledge of Church documents, origins and development of the Church’s teachings in scripture, theology, spirituality and liturgy. Knowledge of multicultural needs and education. Knowledge of catechetical resources and their application to a specific age level. Knowledge of Archdiocesan and national expectations and trends. Ability to support parents as primary care givers in the religious formation of their children. Able to travel to between parishes, (Parish offices and school campuses are located at both Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph.) Work hours require weekdays, evenings and weekends. Position requires safeguarding of sensitive information.
