Description:
Coordinate the Tuesday evening program of Religious Education. Coordinate the Little People Church and Sunday parent/student sacramental sessions. Coordinate with the Deacon couple the Confirmation Program. Supervise the catechesis and especially provide to newer and less experienced catechists.
Provide formation and training for all catechists. Meet weekly with the Pastoral Associate so everything is coordinated. Attend staff meetings and be the conduit to the staff in the area of Religious Education.
Develop curriculum for first thru eighth levels with appropriate ways of evaluation progress. Set-up the calendar of classes with appropriate requirements of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Work in more modern methods of pedagogical development. Attend at least one Parish Council Meeting a year. Supervise updating of Religious Educations records. Oversee RCIC program.
Requirements:
Articulate and implement a plan for sacramental preparation in light of the parish vision and mission and the Archdiocesan policies for grades K-8th. Collaborate with Pastor/Pastoral Coordinator, and members of parish staff area of responsibility. Manage the planning of parish sacramental programs (Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation). Manage recruitment, orientation, supervision and evaluation of catechists. Provide ongoing formation opportunities and spiritual and development for catechists.
