Description:

This person is responsible for the routine maintenance, upkeep and cleanliness of the Church, the basement of the Church, and the rectory public space; the neatness of the parish grounds, the daily inspection of the parish convent building; and the repair needs of all parish facilities, including the school building. He/she should possess knowledge of, and the ability to handle, basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating, and mechanical repairs. Communicate with the Business Manager and Building and Grounds Committee regarding all maintenance/capital issues, identifying and providing the scope of effort for those that require outside contractors. Set up tables and chairs in the Church and rectory basement, or other spaces, as required for parish or community events and clean up the spaces, in a timely fashion, following the events. Keep all bathrooms in the parish public spaces in good repair, clean, and stocked. Be able to identify, manage and work with contractors and other outside service people as required. Maintain the inventory of janitorial and maintenance-related supplies. Prepare and submit maintenance logs and other reports as required or requested. Work with the Business Manager to prepare and administer the annual maintenance budget. Be able to identify, manage and work with contractors and other outside service people as required. Perform other maintenance related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

High school degree. A functional understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and a working knowledge of OSHA, Building, Fire, Life, and Safety Codes. Organizational and problem solving skills. Must be highly motivated and able to coordinate multiple and changing priorities. Compliance with Safe Environment requirements. Available for on-site emergencies 24/7. Normal workweek will be 40 hours. Able to lift/push at least 50 lbs., have a valid driver’s license and daily access to a car/van, and climb ladders and stairs as necessary.
