Catholic Cemeteries honors Our Lady of Guadalupe

Catholic Cemeteries is proud to announce the addition of two new sculptures honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe.  A 30-foot tall sculpture will be raised at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines and a 12-foot tall, identical sculpture will be raised at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.

The magnificent 30-foot sculpture at All Saints in Des Plaines will be dedicated by Bishop John R. Manz, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, on Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m.  The intimate 12-foot sculpture at Mt. Carmel in Hillside will be dedicated by Bishop Alberto Rojas, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, on Saturday, August 30 at 9:30 a.m.  All are welcome to attend the dedications.

Both sculptures are constructed of Mesabi Black Granite and Moon Light Gray Granite from Cold Springs Granite in Minnesota.  The images of Our Lady of Guadalupe and San Juan Diego are mosaics that were created using Venetian Glass tiles from Italy that measure one-half inch by one-half inch.  A unique feature of these sculptures is the image of the floating roses, also made of the same Venetian glass which is an intrinsic part of this blessed apparition.

It has been a tradition of Catholic Cemeteries to adorn our cemeteries, mausoleums and offices with unique sculptures, mosaics, reliefs and architecture that reflect our Catholic Faith.  These one-of-a-kind fine works of religious art allow all who select burial in a Catholic Cemetery to express their faith in a very visible way as we await the Resurrection.

Both of these sections allow for the selection of graves of various types.  Directly in front of the sculpture we offer graves that can be marked with flush lawn level markers.  Bordering the sculpture’s grave area are Shared Family Memorial graves which are graves that include an upright memorial placed by the cemetery.  These Shared Family Memorials will be constructed to complement the main sculpture and to carry on the theme of Our Lady of Guadalupe throughout the section.  Around the perimeter of the section are graves available that can be identified with an upright memorial purchased by the family.

We hope you will join us for the dedication of these beautiful and unique sculptures.  Cemetery Consultants and Representatives will be available at both of the dedications to answer your questions.
