The Cardinal continues to make steady progress after his major surgery last week. The Cardinal's vital signs and blood counts have been completely stable, and he has no fever or any sign of infection. He is adding more foods to his diet, getting up and walking with minimal assistance, and conferring with Vicar General, Very Rev. John Canary and Chancellor, Jimmy Lago on administrative and other issues.
As expected with such major surgery, the recovery process requires time for the body to heal, adapt and recover. Discharge is expected in the upcoming week but a date has not been determined yet.
