“I call you friends…”

“Friends” is a word everyone likes.  Jesus calls us friends, which is something to think about, since Jesus is God.  Being friends with God means having the mind of Christ, having no secrets, hearing everything the Father has told Jesus and he has told us.  It also means wanting the same things that Jesus wants: that his Father be obeyed and that we love one another.  Finally, it means to have the same goals, the same purpose, the same mission as Jesus.  It means sharing a common life.  Friendship isn’t always easy; but it is the source of our joy and the context of our lives, with Christ and with one another.
