Reflecting Christ
As I get older, I don’t always recognize myself right away when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror. Who is that old man? Putting together the inner man and the outer man becomes progressively more of a challenge!
The definition of sanctity is that the inner man looks progressively more like Christ. Then it doesn’t matter much what the outer man looks like. St. Clare of Assisi wrote that Christ is himself a mirror in which we see more and more of ourselves as we grow in sanctity. Christ is a mirror only if we “look” at him regularly. That’s called prayer.
