A Sense of Forgiveness

The Feast of St. Alphonsus Liguori on August 1 provides a moment to reflect on our understanding of forgiveness and our belief in God’s eagerness to forgive our sins and restore us to wholeness.

I believe that people today have a highly developed sense of sin, even though hearts can be hardened as people get stuck in habitual sin.  But what is most lacking is a sense of forgiveness, a sense that forgiveness is available and can make a radical difference in our life with God and one another.  In God’s design, forgiveness brings new life.  But we have to ask for it.
