Full of Grace
The feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary brings to the fore the two types of people we meet in the Gospel and in life. There are those who are full of themselves; they may be good people, with good ideas and good plans and good lives, but without much room for even God to break in. And there are those who are full of grace. Pre-eminently, the Blessed Virgin Mary is at the head of the latter category.
Mary Immaculate, by her very existence, reminds us to search for the one thing necessary, God himself and his holy will. All the rest, even the best of all the rest, can be a distraction. With her we pray: May it be done to me according to Your will.
