Faith: “Now I see.”

We’re well into the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of the Second Vatican Council.  To have faith means to trust in God.  It also means to see the world as God sees it, to accept truths that are not irrational but that are beyond our grasp unless God reveals them.

How can we see the world as God sees it?  It’s not a matter of seeing it from on high, although faith is a total vision of things.  It’s mainly a matter of seeing the world from within, in all its details and activities, all of which are intimately present to God.  Since Jesus is God incarnate, going through life in union with him is to see the world as God sees it.  That takes practice and the help of friends of the Lord.
