Gift of Freedom
It’s been a long time since I’ve contributed to this network. Participating in the conclave to elect a new Pope was a great privilege which also interrupted the flow of days and put me much behind time.
The election of Pope Francis has brought the Church into a new moment. He speaks as much with gestures as he does with words, and he is evidently a free person, even in the constraints of a traditional role. This is a moment also for our personal renewal, a time to examine our gestures (what do they say?) and ask again for the gift of freedom (what weighs us down and prevents our giving ourselves freely to the Lord?). I’ve prayed for the Pope each day since his election, and I’m sure you do the same.
