The Catholic Campaign for Human Development
in the Archdiocese of Chicago

The Chicago Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the Archdiocese of Chicago’s anti-poverty program. Founded in 1970, Chicago CCHD’s mission is to address the root causes of poverty in the Archdiocese though grants and education programs. Chicago CCHD seeks to promote a more just society, one in which all people, but especially the poor, are empowered to participate fully in society.

The Chicago Catholic Campaign for Human Development is Catholic social teaching in action. The Chicago CCHD philosophy emphasizes empowerment and participation. By helping the poor to participate in decisions and actions that affect their lives, the Chicago CCHD empowers them to move beyond poverty, while educating all people about the Catholic Church’s commitment to the right to life, justice for all and concern for the poor.
