- First, we ought to decide that the people we serve truly matter – that they are worth the personal energy expended on their behalf.
- Second, we ought to love people as they are, not as we wish they were. None of this “if only” stuff in ministry.
- Third, we ought not to confuse the gift of interpersonal skills with having a pastoral heart for people.
- And finally: from the evidence of His teachings, Jesus excuses no one from the mandate to love others…He would countenance no exceptions! Jesus is unconditionally inclusive!
