Festival designed to inspire Catholics to deepen and spread their faith

CHICAGO (January 17, 2006) -- Inspiring and educating Catholics from across Chicagoland is the focus for the second-ever Archdiocese of Chicago-sponsored Catholic Festival of Faith, taking place February 16-18, 2006, at the Donald E.Stephens Convention Center, 5500 N. River Rd., in Rosemont.

The three-day celebration is expected to draw thousands of participants and “is open to Catholics of all ages and to all those interested in the Catholic faith,” said Rev. Thomas Franzman, event chair and director of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Worship.

“The Catholic Festival of Faith will offer Catholic liturgies, opportunities for prayer, concerts, keynote speakers and hundreds of workshops – including one offered by Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago – and is designed to assist Catholics to become part of the ‘new evangelization’ so often referenced by the late Pope John Paul II,” said Franzman. Many of the presentations will be offered in Spanish and Polish as well as English, and special sessions have been created for teens in Catholic and public high schools.

Tens of thousands of local Catholics attended the first Catholic Festival of Faith held in November of 2003 at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

Individuals may register for a single day’s events for $35, or for all three days of the Catholic Festival of Faith for $70.
