CHICAGO (January 20, 2005) – The Annual Mass for College Students with Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, and Most Reverend Joseph Imesch, Bishop of Joliet, will take place on Thursday, January 27, at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior, Chicago.
This event, held annually under the sponsorship of the Ministry in Higher Education of the Archdiocese of Chicago, draws hundreds of students from area colleges and universities for an evening of worship, fellowship and refreshments.
Cardinal George and Bishop Imesch will celebrate a Mass of the Holy Spirit at 7 p.m. at the cathedral. Opportunity for the students to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Joining in the concelebrated Mass will be a dozen priests and two deacons who represent chaplains, campus ministers or presidents of some of the colleges and universities whose students are participating.
Loyola University will host a reception at its Water Tower campus, 25 E. Pearson, Chicago, following the Mass. The participants will share refreshments, and conversation with fellow college students and meet and talk informally with Cardinal George and Bishop Imesch.
Students are invited from colleges in the Archdiocese of Chicago that covers Cook and Lake counties, and the Diocese of Joliet that encompasses all or part of the seven counties of DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, Kendall and Will.
