CARDINAL GEORGE TO LEAD PRAYER SERVICE AT CONCLUSION OF PILSEN NEIGHBORHOOD VIA CRUCIS
Parishes around the Archdiocese of Chicago to celebrate Living Way of the Cross

 
 

CHICAGO (March 23, 2005) - Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., will lead a prayer service beginning at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, March 25, at St. Adalbert Church, 1650 W. 17th St., following the conclusion of the Vía Crucis (Living Way of the Cross) that will be enacted through the Pilsen neighborhood.

Participants of this live reenactment of the Stations of the Cross will begin at 9:00 a.m. at 18th and Union, at Providence of God parish, processing along 18th Street. The participants will stop for the Crucifixion in Harrison Park, 18th and Damen, before proceeding to St. Adalbert.

In addition to the Vía Crucis celebration in the Pilsen neighborhood, the following is a short sample of parishes offering the dramatization on Good Friday.

The procession will take participants throughout the Little Village
Community. North on Central Park to 25 th St; West on 25 th to Springfield; South on Springfield to 30 th; East on 30 th to Spaulding; North on Spaulding to 27 th; West on 27 th to Central Park.

Procession will begin in church parking lot with the crucifixion at Senka Park. Parishioners from St. Gall will also join in on the celebration.
