ST. STEPHEN DEACON & MARTYR TO HOST CATHOLIC TENT REVIVAL As Part of MISSION CHICAGO
Chicago, IL, (September 27, 2006) - At 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office for Evangelization is sponsoring a Catholic Tent Revival planned to replicate the old-fashioned religious tent revivals popular in the twentieth century.
The rally will take place at Tinley Park’s St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Church, 17500 South 84th Avenue, and will include upbeat, sacred music, devotional prayer and the preaching of Fr. Robert Barron, known for his Relevant Radio “Word on Fire” series broadcast in metropolitan Chicago at 820-AM and 930 AM.
“This tent revival is an extension of the MISSION CHICAGO missions I preached earlier this year during Lent, and is an unique way to expand and renew the faith of the Archdiocese’s faithful,” said Fr. Barron, Special Consultant to the Archdiocese’s Office of Evangelization.
A priest since 1986, Fr. Barron holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America and a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Institute Catholique de Paris. He is currently professor of systematic theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary.
Barron is the author of four books, including Thomas Aquinas: Spiritual Master, And Now I See: A Theology of Transformation, and most recently, Heaven in Stone and Glass: Experiencing the Spirituality of the Great Cathedrals.
