SEVENTH ANNUAL ECUMENICAL PRAYER SERVICE
Highlights Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Chicago, IL (January 19, 2007)-At 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, the seventh annual Chicagoland Ecumenical Prayer Service will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St.
Sponsored by the Ecumenical Millennium Committee, the service marks the 2007 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which this year runs from January 18 to January 25. The committee is a consortium of 17 Chicago-area churches that joined together in 1999 to pray and prepare for the third Christian millennium.
Many of these churches will be represented at the service including: Rev. Dr. Larry Greenfield (American Baptist), Very Rev. Fr. Aren Jebejian (Armenian Orthodox), Rev. Dr. Larry Ulrich (Church of the Brethren), Rev. Cynthia Hallas (Episcopal), Rev. Craig Mueller (Evangelical Lutheran), H. E. Metropolitan Lakovos of Chicago (Greek Orthodox), Bishop Jan Dawidziuk (Polish National Catholic), Rev. Dr. Robert C. Reynolds (Presbyterian), Bishop Timothy Lyne (Roman Catholic), Lt. Col. David Grindle (Salvation Army), Rev. Fr. Sharbel Bcheiry (Syriac Orthodox), H. E. Archbishop Vsevolod of Scopelos (Ukrainian Orthodox), Rev. Dr. Jane Fisler Hoffman (United Church of Christ) and Bishop Hee-Soo Jung (United Methodist) who will serve as the event's main preacher.
All are invited to attend the service where a free-will offering will be taken and donated to the Church World Service for the victims of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
