ARCHDIOCESAN PRO-LIFE EVENTS ACROSS COOK AND LAKE
COUNTIES MARK 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE

CHICAGO, IL ( January 11, 2008 )— The third annual March For Life in Chicago will take place immediately following the Sunday, January 20, 12:30 p.m. Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior streets. This pro-life march will begin on the Cathedral’s front steps, and will proceed north on State St. to Chicago Ave. and then east to the Old Chicago Water Tower, 800 N. Michigan Ave., where a prayer vigil will be held. The participants will then walk Michigan Ave. to the Chicago River bridge before returning to the Old Chicago Water Tower.

The March For Life in Chicago is one of many Archdiocesan prayer services, vigils and events marking the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. These events are designed to promote awareness about abortion, and to raise in prayer the couples who suffer from the decision to abort their child.


The following parishes are hosting prayer vigils and events between January 16 and 29.

  • ARLINGTON HEIGHTS— St. James, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., will host Mass, a Holy Hour for Life and a prayer vigil with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, along with St. Edna and Our Lady of the Wayside parishes, 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 22.
  • BARTLETT— St. Peter Damian, 109 S. Crest Ave., presents a talk by Dr. Robert Lawler on the church’s teaching on contraception and natural family planning, 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 29.
  • BROOKFIELD— St. Barbara, 4008 Prairie Ave., Vigil for Life, with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a recitation of the Rosary, 7 p.m., Monday, January 21.
  • BURBANK— St. Albert the Great, 5555 W. State Rd., Divine Mercy Chaplet, Mass and Rosary, 7:15 p.m., Monday, January 21.
  • CHICAGO— St. Cornelius, 5205 N. Lieb Ave., Devotion for Life, recitation of the Rosary and benediction following the 11 a.m. Mass, Sunday, January 20.
  • CHICAGO— St. Pascal, 3935 N. Melvina Ave., Holy Hour for Life, 3 p.m. Sunday, January 20.
  • CHICAGO— St. Thomas the Apostle, 5472 S.Kimbark Ave., Interfaith Service for Life, 7:30 p.m. Monday, January 28.
  • DES PLAINES— St. Zachary, 567 W. Algonquin Rd., Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Rosary and Prayer Vigil for Life, 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 22.
  • GRAYSLAKE— St. Gilbert, 301 E. Belvedere Rd., prayer vigil, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and prayer service, 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 22.
  • LAGRANGE PARK— St. Louise de Marillac,1144 Harrison Ave., Holy Hour for Life and benediction, 6:30 p.m. Monday, January 21.
  • LAKE VILLA— Prince of Peace, 135 S. Milwaukee Ave., Rosary for Life , 7 p.m., Monday , January 21.
