PROGRAM CELEBRATES CARDINAL’S PASTORAL LETTER ON RACISM
Stories of Race, Stories of Place, Stories of Grace
Chicago, IL (January 18, 2008) – The third of six presentations of Stories of Race, Stories of Place, Stories of Grace, a program designed to explore racism’s impact on individuals and institutions, will be held at 7 p.m. on January 29 at Holy Family Parish, 1019 South May St. in Chicago. In January, February and March, the program is taking place at churches in each of the six archdiocesan vicariates in Cook and Lake counties.
Presented by renowned storyteller Susan O’Halloran, Stories of Race, Stories of Place, Stories of Grace is based on a series of stories that highlight the four types of racism Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, addressed in his 2001 Pastoral Letter, Dwell In My Love.
Stories of Race, Stories of Place, Stories of Grace is open to all family members 10 and older, and will include a reflective dialogue session and a free-will offering. The program is co-sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Racial Justice and Catholics United for Racial Justice, and is partially supported by Angel’s Studio and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
