CARDINAL GEORGE TO ORDAIN NINE MEN FOR ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
Ceremony to be Held at St. Rita High School on Saturday, May 23

Chicago, IL (May 20, 2009) – Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, will ordain nine new priests at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 23, at St. Rita High School, 7740 South Western Avenue in Chicago.  The men, ranging in age from 26 to 42, include four from the U.S. and two from Poland.  Three others are from Columbia, Mexico and Tanzania. 

In ceremonies held earlier this month at University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary, these seminary graduates received a Master of Divinity degree.  After ordination the new priests will serve in parishes in Chicago, Blue Island, Evergreen Park, Hickory Hills, Niles and Winnetka.

ORDINANDS

Benjamin Arevalos, 37, from Jalisco, Mexico, will have his first assignment at Good Shepherd Parish, 2719 South Kolin Avenue in Chicago. 

Juan Carlos Arrieta Correa, 32, from Barrancabermeja, Colombia, has been assigned to St. Bede the Venerable Parish, 8200 South Kostner in Chicago. 

Augustine Madafa R. Mahonge, 34, from Lushoto, Tanzania, is assigned to St. Benedict Parish, 2339 York Street in Blue Island.

Matthew Nemchausky, 26, was born in Palos Heights and is originally from St. Rene Goupil Parish on the Southwest side of Chicago.  His first assignment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Parish, 9525 South Lawndale Avenue in Evergreen Park.

Andrzej Nowicki, 27, is from Biala Podlaska, Poland and has been assigned to St. John Brebeuf Parish, 8307 North Harlem Avenue in Niles. 

Michael Owen, 26, was born in Berwyn and graduated from St. Luke School in River Forest and Marmion Academy in Aurora.   His first assignment will be at St. Patricia Parish, 9050 South 86th Street in Hickory Hills. 

Andrew Charles Smith, Jr., 42, is from Chicago and is a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle School in Hyde Park, Mount Carmel High School and Loyola University Chicago.  He has been assigned to St. Ailbe Parish, 9015 South Harper Avenue in Chicago.

Paul Stemn, 41, is a native of South Bend, Indiana, and will be assigned to Ss. Faith, Hope and Charity Parish, 191 Linden Street in Winnetka. 

Karol Tybor, 27, is from Gorlice, Poland and has been assigned to St. Christina Parish, 11005 South Homan Avenue in Chicago.
