CARDINAL GEORGE TO ATTEND BISHOP ABRAMOWICZ SEMINARY PROGRAM
ANNUAL BENEFIT BANQUET

Chicago, IL (August 7, 2009) – Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, and honorary guest, His Excellency Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki, Archbishop of Lwów, will be in attendance at the sixth annual benefit dinner for the Bishop Abramowicz Seminary Program on Sunday, September 13, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 East North Water Street in Chicago. Bishop Mokrzycki, secretary to Pope Benedict XVI, was the past personal secretary to Pope John Paul II until his death in 2005.
The Bishop Abramowicz Seminary Program has annually recruited seminarians in Poland since September 1999. With the approval of their respective bishops, these seminarians freely elect to leave their native Poland and complete their seminary training at Bishop Abramowicz Seminary in Chicago and then at the University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary. After ordination, these priests serve in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago, including those that have a significant number of Polish parishioners as well as parishes that serve other cultures.
The benefit dinner begins with cocktails at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. A Silent Auction is also included. Tickets are $175 per person.
