CARDINAL GEORGE TO ORDAIN TEN MEN FOR ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
Ceremony to be Held at Holy Name Cathedral on Saturday, May 21
Chicago, IL (May 19, 2011) – Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago, will ordain ten new priests at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 21, at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior streets in Chicago. The men, ranging in age from 25 to 34, include three from the U.S., three from Mexico and two from Tanzania. Two others are from Kenya and Poland.
In ceremonies held earlier this month at the University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary, these seminary graduates received a Master of Divinity degree. After ordination the new priests will serve in parishes in Chicago, Berwyn, Evanston, Glenview, Palatine, Western Springs, and Winnetka.
Hernan Cuevas, 29, from Michoacan, Mexico, will have his first assignment at St. Athanasius Parish, 1611 Lincoln Street in Evanston. His first Mass is May 22, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Athanasius.
Elliott Richard Dees, 25, was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, and is assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 1775 Grove Street in Glenview. His first Mass is May 22, at 10:45 a.m., at St. John of the Cross Parish, 5005 South Wolf Road in Western Springs.
Orlando Flores, 28, from Mexico, will have his first assignment at St. Mary of Celle Parish, 1428 Wesley Avenue in Berwyn. He will have his first Mass on May 22, at noon, at Providence of God Parish, 717 West 18th Street in Chicago.
Lorenzo Gamboa Cadena, 34, from Chinacates in Durango, Mexico, is assigned to St. Catherine Laboure Parish, 3535 Thornwood Avenue in Glenview, and will have his first Mass on May 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine Laboure.
John G. Hetland, 26, from Evanston, will have his first assignment at St. Barnabas Parish, 10134 South Longwood Drive in Chicago, and will have his first Mass on May 21, at 5 p.m., at Transfiguration Parish, 2609 West Carmen Avenue in Chicago.
Filbert Ngwila, 31, from Tanzania, is assigned to St. John of the Cross Parish, 5005 South Wolf Road in Western Springs, and will have his first Mass on May 21, at 5 p.m., at St. Agnes Parish, 1501 Chicago Road in Chicago Heights.
Collins Kisaka Nyache, 33, born in Kenya, will have his first assignment at Sacred Heart Parish, 1077 Tower Road in Winnetka. His first Mass will be May 21, at 5 p.m. at Prince of Peace Parish, 135 South Milwaukee Avenue in Lake Villa.
Wojciech Jan Oleksy, 27, from Krynicia-Zdrój in Poland, is assigned to St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, 1201 East Anderson Drive in Palatine, and will have his first Mass on May 22, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Parish, 1039 West 32nd Street in Chicago.
Phillip T. Owen, 26, a native of Oak Park, will have his first assignment at St. Cajetan Parish, 2443 West 112th Street in Chicago. His first Mass will be May 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Angels Parish, 1850 North Hermitage Avenue in Chicago.
Gosbertus Rwezahura, 33, born in Tanzania, is assigned to St. Joseph Parish, 1747 Lake Avenue in Wilmette, and will have his first Mass on May 21, at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Parish, 8925 South Kostner Avenue in Hometown.
