Yesterday we saw another attack on the lives of innocent people seeking only to work and travel in peace. Coming as it has in the holy month of Ramadan, this latest atrocity shows a deep lack of respect for faith and human life. Monday night we joined with our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating the Annual Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) Catholic-Muslim Iftar dinner. Let the spirit of prayer and respect that pervaded that gathering grow in the coming weeks and months and leave no room for hatred and suspicion among our people.
