Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Celebrate 4th of July and the 31st anniversary of the Arrival of the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Maryville Academy

Former Chicago Auxiliary Bishop and Bishop Emeritus of Lubbock, TX., Most Rev. Plácido Rodríguez, CMF, to Concelebrate Mass

Des Plaines, IL (June 29, 2018) - The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe will celebrate Independence Day and the 31st anniversary of the arrival of the missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe with an outdoor Mass at the Shrine, 1170 North River Road in Des Plaines, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.  The Mass, to be celebrated at the outdoor grotto, will be concelebrated by Most Rev. Plácido Rodríguez, CMF and Very Rev. Esequiel Sánchez, Rector of the Shrine. The traditional “mañanitas” or serenade to Our Lady will be held at 7:00 a.m.

“The Shrine serves as an oasis for Catholic devotees of Our Lady of Guadalupe, but most importantly, it serves Hispanic immigrants who today often face challenges to family unity and uncertain futures for their children,” says Sanchez. “The Shrine honors and celebrates the Independence Day of our nation and prays for all who seek the liberty and prosperity it promises.”
