Archdiocese of Chicago’s Parishes to Host Special Masses and Activities for All Souls Day/Day of the Dead
Chicago, IL (October 26, 2018) – Parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago to host special masses and activities in observance of All Souls Day, also known as Day of the Dead, on Friday, November 2, 2018. The events signify a time to celebrate, pray and remember friends and family who have passed away.
Activities at select parishes include:
St. Agnes of Bohemia Parish

An altar of the dead to available for viewing in the sanctuary starting on Monday, October 29. Masses for the Day of the Dead to be held on Thursday, November 1 at 8 a.m. and at 6 p.m., as well as on Friday, November 2 at 8 a.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
A Mass in celebration and remembrance of youth lost to gang violence this year to be held on Saturday, November 3 at 1 p.m. followed by a street procession from 2 to 4 p.m. A peace prayer and moment of healing and fellowship to be held in the St. Agnes School gymnasium from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Parishioners from Assumption, Epiphany, Good Shephard, Our Lady of Tepeyac and St. Roman Parishes are participating in the event. This activity is sponsored by Padres Angeles and Imago Dei, two organizations offering support and accompaniment to families in the Little Village community area. Families are invited to prepare their own altar of the dead on parish grounds. A Mass for the Day of the Dead to be held on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. followed by the blessing and celebration of the altars.
Good Shepherd Parish

Masses in commemoration of the Day of the Dead to be held on Sunday, October 28 at 8 a.m. in English, 12 p.m. in Spanish and 6 p.m. in Spanish. Parishioners are invited to bring pictures of their deceased loved ones to place on an altar for the dead.

Our Lady of Charity Parish

An altar of the dead is currently available for viewing in the sanctuary until November 11. Mass for the Day of the Dead to be held on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m.
Catholic Cemeteries
All 45 Catholic Cemeteries locations throughout Cook and Lake County to offer extended hours in observance of All Saints Day, Thursday, November 1 and All Souls Day, Friday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All locations to offer a Rosary and Prayer Service on Cemetery Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. as a way for families and friends to come together and reflect on the passing of loved ones and the influence they had on their lives.
