Chicago (Feb. 25, 2022) – The Archdiocese of Chicago calls for Catholics to unite in prayer for peace in Ukraine. Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, asks that all parishes, schools and worship sites in the Archdiocese of Chicago ring their bells in solidarity with the people of Ukraine at noon on Sunday, Feb. 27 and at noon on Ash Wednesday, March 2.

“We call everyone throughout the archdiocese to join our prayers with those of Pope Francis,” said Cardinal Cupich. ”Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of a time of fasting and prayer in preparation for Easter. We stand with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine suffering the privations and terror of war in their homeland and we pray for their deliverance and restoration of peace.”
