Archdiocese of Chicago to Host 22nd Annual Noche de Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony Celebrating Youth and Young Adult Ministry on Friday, October 25, 2024

Bishop Robert G. Casey to Offer Remarks at the Gala Highlighting the Vital Role of Hispanic Youth in Parish Communities

Chicago (October 25, 2024) – The Archdiocese of Chicago will celebrate its 22nd annual Noche de Gala on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, IL. The event will begin at 6 p.m., with remarks from Bishop Robert G. Casey, Vicar General of the Archdiocese, at 8 p.m. This year’s Gala will honor the incredible contributions of youth and young adult ministries within Hispanic Ministry across the Archdiocese. Attendees from parishes across the Archdiocese of Chicago will come together and honor the vibrant efforts in youth and young adult ministry.

“Tonight is an opportunity to showcase the beauty and richness of your diverse community and recommit to being the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world" within our local Church,” said Cardinal Cupich in a pre-recorded message that will be shown during the event.

The evening will feature an awards ceremony recognizing key ministries that nurture the spiritual and personal growth of young Catholics, followed by music and dancing.

Among the honorees:

  • Iskali at Queen of All Nations Parish in Hillside, Ill., which has created a vibrant space for young adults since 2022, fostering spiritual growth and personal development through community service and mentorship programs.
  • Effeta, a ministry based at Ss. Genevieve and Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Parish, recognized for its success in evangelizing and empowering young adults through leadership development and religious formation, culminating in its first retreat in Chicago last year under the guidance of coordinator Eliana Olivares.
  • St. Aloysius Youth Group from Mother of the Americas Parish in Little Village, led by Joseph Martinez, which has become a nurturing environment for fostering vocations and building lasting friendships among its members, ages 13-18. The group has grown significantly since its formation after the pandemic, inspired by the vision of Fr. Tom Boharic.

Nearly 40% of the parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago offer Spanish-language Masses, a testament to the growing influence of the Hispanic Catholic community.
