Cardinal Blase J. Cupich to Host the Fifth Annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast

A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., president of DePaul University, will be the keynote speaker

Chicago, IL (January 15, 2019) – Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, will host the fifth annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:45 a.m. at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Avenue. A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., president of DePaul University, will deliver the keynote address. Cupich and Dr. Jim Rigg, superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools, will both deliver remarks. Dina Bair, WGN News anchor and reporter, will emcee the event.

“Our Catholic schools provide an excellent, faith based academic education for our students and their families, and encourage our young people to live in service and solidarity with one another,” said Cupich. “Our students are challenged by teachings that extend beyond the classroom, providing a foundation that uplifts and improves our communities, and affirms that we are one human family whatever our racial, ethnic, socioeconomic or religious differences.”

The Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast will benefit innovative academic programs in the Archdiocese’s Catholic schools, with a focus on classroom technology, teacher coaching, dual language immersion and resources for students with specialized learning needs. Proceeds will also support professional development programs for principals and emergency tuition assistance for students.

“A Catholic education is unparalleled in providing exceptional academics while developing and nurturing our youth to be active in their faith and in their communities,” said Dr. Rigg. “This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our academic achievements and the dedication of our teachers and staff who faithfully serve our families.”

Major sponsors include Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Jim and Molly Perry and Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

More than 400 people are expected to attend this year’s event. In previous years, the breakfast has raised more than $110,000 annually. Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available at all levels.
