St. Agnes of Bohemia Parish to Hold Street Masses for Peace in Chicago’s Little Village Neighborhood

Street Mass program marks its 18th year of praying for an end to violence

Chicago, IL (June 7, 2019) – St. Agnes of Bohemia Catholic Church, located at 2651 S. Central Park Ave. in Chicago, will hold several street masses throughout the months of June and July in an effort to bring the Gospel message of peace and hope to the streets of the Little Village neighborhood.

“These Masses continue to be an opportunity to pray for the end to violence and for resolve that there will be a continued push for peace,” said Fr. Don Nevins, Pastor of St. Agnes of Bohemia Parish. “During each of the Masses, the children will receive a special blessing, asking for the Lord’s protection from harm this summer,” Fr. Nevins added.

Now in the street Mass program’s 18th year, dozens of parish volunteers will go door to door the day before the outdoor street Masses with fliers inviting neighbors to participate. During these visits, volunteers typically encounter people new to the neighborhood as well as longer-term residents who may not be aware of the parish’s services.
