Cardinal Blase J. Cupich to Host the Sixth Annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at 7:30 a.m.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory of the Archdiocese of Washington will be the keynote speaker

Chicago, IL (Jan. 16, 2020) – Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, will host the sixth annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at 7:30 a.m. at The Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St., Chicago. Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory, the seventh archbishop of Washington and former archbishop of Atlanta and auxiliary bishop of Chicago, will deliver the keynote address. Cupich and Dr. Jim Rigg, superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools, will both deliver remarks. Dina Bair, WGN News anchor and reporter, will emcee the event.

"Chicago’s Catholic schools have been preparing young people for lives of faith, good citizenship and service for nearly two centuries,” said Cupich. “Through our partnership with families, Catholic school students learn to become instruments of God’s presence and grace in their schools and communities.”

The Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast will benefit innovative academic programs in the archdiocese’s schools, including classroom technology, teacher coaching, dual language immersion and resources for students with specialized learning needs. Proceeds will also support professional development programs for principals and emergency tuition assistance for students.

“A Catholic education provides a rigorous curriculum while fostering the faith development of each student,” said Rigg. “This event celebrates how our Catholic schools have and will continue to develop students academically and spiritually as Christ-like people who will lead full, vibrant lives.”

Major sponsors of the breakfast are: Gallagher & Co., Wintrust, Jim and Molly Perry, Loyola University Chicago, DePaul University and Luis and Sally Nieto.

More than 350 are expected to attend this year’s event. In previous years, the breakfast has raised more than $115,000 annually. Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available.
