The Chastity Education Initiative to Celebrate the Life of Cardinal Francis George, OMI on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020

The virtual event fundraiser will benefit Archdiocese of Chicago’s chastity education programs, curricula and events.

Chicago - (Aug. 6, 2020) –The Chastity Education Initiative will host a free, virtual event on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m., Celebrating the Life of Cardinal Francis George, OMI benefitting the Archdiocese of Chicago’s chastity education programs. The event will honor Cardinal George’s commitment to chastity education, including his 2003 establishment of the archdiocese’s Chastity Education Initiative, and will commemorate the fifth anniversary of his death. Due to COVID-19, the fundraiser will be live on the archdiocese's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The event will include a series of clips from “Glorious Lives,” the documentary about Cardinal George’s life, followed by a panel discussion featuring Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries; Rev. Daniel Flens, former secretary to Cardinal George and Mary Louise Hengesbaugh, co-founder of the Chastity Education Initiative. Damon Owens, a Catholic speaker and executive director of Joyful Ever After, a Catholic nonprofit ministry dedicated to renewing and transforming Christian marriages, will facilitate the panel discussion.

The Chastity Education Initiative provides faithful programs, curricula and events for teens, young adults and families to understand sacred scripture and Catholic tradition in observing chastity.
