Archdiocese of Chicago Provides Update on Frassati-Lake Zurich Renew My Church Grouping

All parishes and schools will remain in their current structures.
Dec. 13, 2021

The Archdiocese of Chicago today announced an update on the Frassati-Lake Zurich Renew My Church grouping. The current structures of the parishes and schools in this grouping will remain unchanged.

Recently, the Frassati-Lake Zurich grouping’s Feedback and Discernment Team, made up of representatives from each of its parishes and schools, met to review and discern the future parish, school and church structures for their respective areas. Based on their meetings and discussions with the larger parish communities, they submitted feedback reports to the Archdiocesan Standards and Recommendations Commission, which includes representatives from across the archdiocese. The commission reviewed the feedback reports and other materials and information, including demographic data, financial summaries, and parish and grouping trends.

During the past several weeks, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, the archdiocese’s auxiliary bishops and Presbyteral Council discussed the commission’s recommendations. Based on those discussions and prayerful consideration, the following decisions have been made:

Frassati-Lake Zurich Grouping

The Frassati-Lake Zurich Renew My Church grouping includes the following parishes and schools:

  • St. Francis de Sales Parish and School (Lake Zurich)
  • Santa Maria del Popolo Parish (Mundelein)
  • St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish (Mundelein)
  • Transfiguration Parish (Wauconda)
  • Frassati Catholic Academy (Wauconda)

All four parishes will remain in their current structure. There will be no structural changes to Frassati Catholic Academy or St. Francis de Sales School as a result of the grouping discernment process.

  • St. Mary of the Annunciation, Santa Maria del Popolo, and Transfiguration Parishes remain committed to supporting Frassati Catholic Academy.

Next Steps

Over the next few months, all parishes in this grouping will embark on the next phase of renewal to become stronger, more sustainable and capable of reaching out in their work of making disciples of Jesus Christ, building communities and inspiring witness.
