The Archdiocese of Chicago to Celebrate its 39th Annual Simbang Gabi Novena from Monday, Dec. 15 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025

Cardinal Blase J. Cupich will celebrate Simbang Gabi Mass at All Saints Parish in Niles on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
Chicago (Dec. 11, 2025) – The Archdiocese of Chicago will celebrate its 39th annual Simbang Gabi novena starting on Monday, Dec. 15 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025. Sponsored by the archdiocese’s Asian Catholic Initiative office, Simbang Gabi is one of the oldest and most revered Filipino Christmas traditions. Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, will preside over Simbang Gabi Mass at All Saints Parish, at the St. Isaac Jogues Church worship site, 8101 W. Golf Road in Niles, at 7 p.m.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines to host the 2025 Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 11-12

Des Plaines, IL (Dec. 10, 2025) – The annual celebration honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, will begin on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1170 North River Road in Des Plaines. The Shrine’s observance is the largest gathering of pilgrims honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from the Chicago-area and well beyond are expected to arrive at the Shrine to pay homage to the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, who appeared to Saint Juan Diego on Dec. 12, 1531.

Chicago, IL (November 7, 2025)– The Archdiocese of Chicago will celebrate its 23rd annual Noche de Gala on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Chateau Del Mar in Hickory Hills, IL. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., with remarks from Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago and Bishop Jose M. Maria Garcia-Maldonado, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese. Attendees from parishes across the Archdiocese of Chicago will come together to celebrate and honor those whose leadership, service, and witness shine as a guiding light in the Hispanic communities they serve.

Chicago (Oct. 31, 2025) – The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Immigration Ministry will host its 13th annual Keep Hope Alive benefit at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at St. Ignatius College Prep, 1076 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Chicago. Keep Hope Alive is the annual fundraiser to support Pastoral Migratoria, a national immigrant-led ministry s of service and accompaniment founded in Chicago, and to recognize community leaders who have responded to the needs of immigrant communities. This year’s theme is Light in the Darkness.

Archdiocesan Priest, Rev. Robert J. McGlinn, Dies

McGlinn was former assistant pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in La Grange, Precious Blood Parish in Chicago and served in Panama, Honduras and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Chicago (Oct. 23, 2025) – Rev. Robert J. McGlinn, also known as “Padre Roberto” among Hispanic communities, was former assistant pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in La Grange and Precious Blood Parish in Chicago. He then served in Latin America and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. McGlinn passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at the age of 95.

The Archdiocese of Chicago to Hold the 14th Annual Hope and Healing Mass

Church of the Holy Family will host the Mass on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 at 10 a.m.
Chicago, (Oct. 23, 2025) – The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office of Assistance Ministry will hold its 14th Annual Hope and Healing Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at Church of the Holy Family, 1080 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Chicago. The Mass is an opportunity for clergy abuse victim-survivors to find a safe space for healing where they can feel supported. CHICAGO (Oct. 16, 2025) – Parishes across the Archdiocese of Chicago will join Catholics worldwide in celebrating World Mission Sunday on Oct. 19, 2025, which is an annual event that highlights the Church’s global mission and supports communities of faith in 1,124 mission territories around the world. All parishes in the archdiocese will take up the World Mission Sunday collection during Masses on Oct. 18-19.

Ten Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools Receive National Blue Ribbon Recognition

Record-setting year highlights academic excellence and student achievement
Chicago, (Sept. 23, 2025) – A record-breaking number of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago have met the criteria for the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award, given annually by the U.S. Department of Education since 1982, and 10 schools were informed in August that they would receive the honor this year.

Parishes across the archdiocese will host celebrations. National Migration Week culminates locally on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 with a 5:15 p.m. Mass at Holy Name Cathedral.
Chicago, (Sept. 22, 2025) – In observance of National Migration Week, Sept. 22-28, 2025, the parishes and Immigration Ministry of the Archdiocese of Chicago will host events throughout the week celebrating Chicagoland’s diverse communities. For 45 years, the U.S. Catholic Church has celebrated National Migration Week, which has traditionally been linked to the Vatican’s World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR), as an opportunity for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants and to engage in prayer and action for those who are forced to flee their homes. In solidarity with the Vatican, National Migration Week will use the theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV of “Migrants, missionaries of hope.”
