Local Respect Life Activities Include "March for Life Chicago"
Chicago, IL (January 6, 2017) – The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Respect Life Ministries will participate in a series of events and activities throughout the month of January designed to remind society of the dignity and sanctity of human life, from conception to natural death.
“The Catholic Church holds dear the principle that all human life is worthy of protection and respect,” said Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. “By demonstrating our concern for every member of the human family, we hope to remind our brothers and sisters that when human life is not held dear, dire consequences occur throughout society.”
The Respect Life Ministries of the Archdiocese of Chicago implement programs that seek to promote a Culture of Life where every human being is valued and protected, from the moment of conception to natural death. These programs focus on a number of topics including abortion, the death penalty, gun control, euthanasia, assisted suicide and nuclear war.

Saturday, January 7 – 5 p.m.
Cardinal Blase J. Cupich and priests from across the Archdiocese of Chicago will celebrate the Archdiocesan Mass for Life at St. Cletus Parish, 600 West 55th Street in La Grange.
Saturday, January 14 – 6 p.m.
Speakout Illinois and March for Life Chicago will host the first-ever Rose Dinner Chicago at Petterino’s, 150 North Dearborn Street in Chicago, to benefit the March for Life Chicago. The dinner will feature a panel of recognized Respect Life activists who will discuss the preservation of the dignity of all life.
Sunday, January 15 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At 9 a.m. St. Ignatius College Prep, 1076 West Roosevelt Road in Chicago, will be hosting youth for the Youth Rally for Life and Mass. Jackie Francoise Angel, contemporary Catholic musician and speaker, will lead the rally, and Most Rev. Alberto Rojas, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, will celebrate the send-off Mass.
At 10 a.m., Rev. Francis J. Hoffman, JCD, Executive Director of Relevant Radio, will lead the annual Aid for Women March for Life Chicago Mass and Brunch at the Union League Club, 65 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago.
From 2 to 4 p.m., the annual March for Life Chicago will take place in downtown Chicago. Cardinal Cupich will speak at the event as participants march from Federal Plaza. More information can be found at www.marchforlifechicago.com.
Many parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago will be hosting Masses to welcome pilgrims and to pray for the March for Life Chicago.
Wednesday, January 25 – 7 p.m.
At 7 p.m., St. Cletus Parish in LaGrange will be hosting a Send-off Prayer Service for over 250 Archdiocese of Chicago pilgrims headed to March for Life 2017 in Washington, D.C. The prayer service will be held at, and will be led by seminarians of St. Joseph College Seminary.
Friday, January 27– 9 a.m.
More than 250 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Chicago will join over 20,000 Catholics from dioceses around the country at the Archdiocese of Washington’s Youth Rally and Mass for Life at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. At 12 p.m. EST, an expected 600,000 pro-life Americans will participate in the March for Life, beginning at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and ending at the Supreme Court Building.
