Sexual Abuse

Reporting Sexual Abuse

The Archdiocese of Chicago is committed to creating safe environments for minors (any person under the age of 18) and vulnerable adults in our parishes, schools, and communities. The Office for Child Abuse Investigations and Review (CAIR) collaborates with archdiocesan offices to thoroughly investigate and process allegations of sexual misconduct.

If you have questions about our process or concerns that a child or young adult may be the victim of child sexual abuse, please direct such questions or reports promptly to:

We recommend that allegations of the abuse and/or neglect of minors be reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services DCFS Hotline (1.800.25.ABUSE) and/or the local police department first before contacting the archdiocese Office for the Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY).
