Notice of Decree Uniting Parishes

A plan to unite St. Norbert Parish and Our Lady of the Brook Parish, both in Northbrook, was presented to the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Chicago and discussed at regular meetings of the Council in March and May 2017. After considering the matter, the Council gave its opinions to the Cardinal, and on May 22, 2017, Cardinal Cupich issued a decree to the following effects:
- St. Norbert Parish and Our Lady of the Brook Parish, both in Northbrook, are joined to form a single parish named St. Norbert and Our Lady of the Brook Parish; also to be known as The Catholic Community of Northbrook. The churches of both parishes will remain open for public worship. For the full decree, click here.
