Notice of Decrees Uniting Parishes and Relegation of a Parish Church to Use Other Than Divine Worship
A plan to unite St. Thaddeus Parish, in the Princeton Park neighborhood in the City of Chicago, with St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, in the adjacent Washington Heights neighborhood in the City of Chicago, was presented to the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Chicago and discussed in September and November last year, at regular meetings of the Council. After considering the matter, the Council gave its opinions to the cardinal, and on January 6, 2017, Cardinal Cupich issued decrees to the following effects:
- St. Thaddeus Parish, located at 9540 South Harvard Avenue, is wholly united with St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, located at 9837 South Throop Street. [For the full decree, click here.]
- St. Thaddeus Church, located at 9540 South Harvard Avenue, is relegated to uses other than divine worship. [For the full decree, click here.]
