Vicariate I Ministry Commission
Vision Statement:
The Ministry Commission envisions all Vicariate I parishes, in the spirit of Renew My Church, to make disciples, build communities and inspire witness.
Mission Statement:
Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Vicariate I Ministry Commission exists to provide lay ministers an opportunity to excel in parish ministry by providing formation, training and ongoing spiritual development.
To accomplish our mission, we place an emphasis on evangelization, radical hospitality, liturgical ministries, readiness-based faith formation and works of love and mercy.
What is a Ministry Commission?
The Vicariate I Ministry Commission (VIMC) is comprised of full-time, professional ministers and active volunteer lay ministers. VIMC supports all parishes within Vicariate I.
The membership usually work professionally in parishes in the deanery, but occasionally members have been very active volunteer lay ministers who work professionally in college education, archdiocesan or vicariate level positions.
The Ministry Commission meets regularly to effect the work of the Commission; works collaboratively with the Coordinator and other Commissioners to assess needs, design, implement and evaluate ministry programs for new and experienced ministers; develop networks which provide communication, support and affirmation
for ministers of the deanery; have an awareness of Archdiocesan policies and programs; publicize and handle administrative details of specified ministry programs and work in concert with the Coordinator, Dean and Bishop in financial responsibilities.
The Ministry Commission is supported financially by annual stipends paid by each parish within Vicariate I. Focusing on collaborative efforts between and among deanery parishes greatly reduces time and financial obligations both of which are limited resources.
