Archdiocesan Priest, Rev. Robert L. Ebrom, Dies

Ebrom was a retired archdiocesan priest and former faculty member at St. Patrick High School

Chicago (May 5, 2022) – Rev. Robert L. Ebrom, former faculty member at St. Patrick High School, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was 76.

Ebrom was born on Sept. 5, 1945, in Chicago. He attended Queen of All Saints grammar school and Quigley Preparatory Seminary both in Chicago, and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein.

He was ordained to the priesthood on May 12, 1971, by Cardinal John Cody, and celebrated his first solemn Mass on May 15 of the same year at the Basilica of Queen of All Saints in Chicago.

Ebrom served the people of the archdiocese as assistant pastor at St. Cletus Parish in La Grange. Later, he served as associate pastor at St. Maurice Parish on Hoyne Avenue and All Saints-St. Anthony Parish on 28th Place, both in Chicago, and at St. Luke Parish in River Forest.

“He was a wonderful brother, and a very bright and well-read priest,” said Rev. Joseph Mulcrone, director of the Chicago Catholic Office of the Deaf. “Although his health declined, he made praying for others his ministry,” said Mulcrone, who remembered his classmate as a good teacher who loved teaching young people.

Ebrom was a faculty member at Quigley Preparatory Seminary, St. Rita of Cascia High School on Western Avenue and St. Patrick High School on Belmont Avenue, all in Chicago, and at Fenwick High School in Oak Park.

Visitation hours will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, and the funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. all at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., in Chicago.

Most Rev. Mark Bartosic will celebrate the funeral Mass and Msgr. Kenneth Velo will be the homilist. Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
