Description:

St. Raymond de Penafort, a progressive faith community located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, is seeking candidates for the position of Parish Business Manager. The Business Manager reports to the Pastor and works with the pastor, school principal, and the Pastoral Center Finance office in managing the finances and operations of the parish. The Business Manager assists the Pastor with the stewardship of the physical, financial and personnel resources of the parish, in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines. The incumbent is responsible for supervision of operating staff (bookkeepers, office staff, maintenance staff). Specific responsibilities may include: Maintains the parish's accounting records. Develops and submits the parish budget, annual report, and interim reports to the Pastoral Center. Prepares periodic reports of financial results and analyzes variances for the Pastor, Principal, Pastoral Center, and appropriate parish oversight committees. Manages banking relationships. Manages payables and receivables. Responsible for parish purchases and contract negotiations. Facilitates fund raising events, pledge drives, parish offertory collections and stewardship. Manages capital campaign pledges and collections. Ensures that all federal, state and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Works with principal and other school staff in developing and managing the school economic model Supports and assists the Principal and Pastor in all school financial management matters. Collaborates with School Endowment Fund management. Manages major repairs, renovations and capital projects in accordance with Archdiocesan policies. Acts as liaison to Archdiocesan administrative agencies. Manages custodial maintenance functions. Schedules meeting space. Is responsible for parish security, leasing, rental, use of parish facilities, and acts as a liaison to local government agencies. Implements personnel policies: develops hiring and termination procedures, job descriptions, personnel evaluations, Open Enrollment and EEO Reports for administrative and support staff. Manages payment of salaries and benefits. Directs the management of the parish office. Evaluates support staff through yearly performance reviews. Oversees implementation of the guidelines and policies of volunteers. Oversees preparation of Sunday bulletin, print and social media. Oversees the maintenance of the parish census and database. Oversees information technology (computer, telephone, etc.). Oversees the management of parish operational and financial records. Manages parish action plans; tracks progress and identifies follow-up actions. Helps problem-solve roadblocks preventing completion of action plan priorities. Organizes and facilitates weekly staff meetings to discuss and resolve parish issues. Brings ideas, plans, and best practices to the parish from Vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings.

Requirements:

Knowledgeable of the principles of accounting. Knowledgeable of safety and security issues. Ability to work collaboratively with professionals in non-financial areas of responsibility. Demonstrated expertise in personnel management. Knowledge of employment policies, procedures, selection processes, benefits management, federal and state laws, employee motivation, team building, etc. Five years business or not-for-profit management experience. Church management experience is desirable. Demonstrated facility with various software products, including Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelors degree in management, accounting or finance highly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated service mindset in dealing with others. Strong leadership skills. Ability to identify issues and collaborate with others to develop action plans, and lead staff and volunteers to reach resolution. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Strong drive to achieve results. The ideal candidate is a person of faith committed to Gospel values and the Catholic Church.
