Description:

We are looking for the Associate Youth Minister (AYM) at Our Lady of the Wayside to first and foremost joyfully witness to the love of Christ and beauty of all it means to be a Catholic-Christian. OLW is a very active parish with amazing families, teens, adults, and members of all ages. The AYM would support an already established youth ministry incorporating a wide variety of key components ranging from 6th-12th grade with some college ministry developing. The AYM would work in conjunction with the Director of Youth Ministry, and a dedicated network of volunteer servant-leaders, both adults and teens. The AYM responsibilities will focus primarily on two key components within our ministry. Large portion of hours/responsibilities during school year: Co-coordinate the content of our Sunday High School Peer Ministry evenings and Thursday Jr. High Peer Council afternoons, including creating the schedule for these sessions as well as a list of prep that needs to be accomplished prior to the sessions. Assign tasks for the support volunteers, adult mentors, and teen core leaders ; Play an active ministry role of building relationships with our inspirational youth during Peer Ministry and Peer Council. Send out summary emails to parents and follow-up communication with teens; Co-Mentor Jr. High Peer Council Leadership team—lunchtime meetings twice a month traditional on Tuesday; Maintain Social Media needs for the ministry. Leading music/worship and guitar playing a plus. Smaller portion of hours/responsibilities during school year: Meet with Director of Youth Ministry once a week for planning and visioning purposes. Participate in periodic special events including Peer Ministry Overnighters, NCYC, Parish Service Day, etc.; Pray for all the youth and adults within the parish. When time allows, assist with other aspects of the ministry as well as support the youth at outside youth ministry events such as co-curricular school and OLW School/Parish activities; Summer hours/responsibilities focus primarily on weeklong special events such as Camp WOW and Mission Trip. Applicants should be dedicated to a life in Christ, loving support of the Church, solid faith education---experience in youth ministry or catholic education is strongly preferred. Candidate will be greatly supported by DYM yet needs to be self-motivated, creative, and have a heart for our amazing youth.

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree preferably in Theology, Youth Ministry, or Catechesis. Loves the Lord and the Church.
