Description:

Prepare annual and interim budgets, and consistently prepares monthly reports, all of which require the pastor’s approval and signature. Oversees the management of parish operational and financial records. Handles bank relations to include management of all parish bank accounts including problem solving. Oversees all accounting including but not limited to functions such as reconciling bank accounts, payables and receivables on a daily / monthly basis. Ensures that all federal, state and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Parish liaison to the local government agencies and is responsible for obtaining required permits and licenses. Facilitates fund raising events, pledge drives, parish offertory collections and stewardship. Coordinates with the Pastor and the Facilities Committee, the accounting for any major repairs, renovations, and capital projects in accordance with Archdiocesan policies. Liaison to Parish Finance Council. Must prepare materials for all meetings in addition to supplying requested information by finance council members. All documents should be submitted to the pastor for his review and approval prior to any meeting with the Finance Council. Administer benefit enrollments as well as assist the Pastor in the development of personnel policies such as job descriptions, hiring, terminating and disciplinary policies within Archdiocesan guidelines. Manages payment of salaries and payroll functions including garnishments. Supply and assist Pastor with performance reviews for all staff personnel. Maintains personnel files in an orderly and timely fashion. Purges files as indicated by Archives and Record’s guidelines. May follow up by phone or written notice to Parishioner’s concerns or requests. Attends meetings relative to the role, as necessary such as parish staff, deanery, vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings. Oversee implementation of guidelines and policies for all volunteers. Assists other members of the Parish Staff in completing their assignments when available or as needed. Responsible for parish security, leasing, rental, use of parish facilities, and acts as a liaison to local government agencies. May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of a Business Manager.

Requirements:

Business and Accounting training at the college level required; Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Accounting preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in parish or business or the equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience required; Five + years of business management and accounting experience preferred. Knowledge of accounting practices, personnel procedures and policies, and federal, state and city laws required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Advanced applications of the Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks preferred. Understand and support the mission of the parish. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Availability to work overtime as needed.
